About the Artist

Joyce McJilton Dwyer is a Midwestern born watercolor painter and pen and ink artist with twenty years experience working in full size watercolors and drawings, as well as focusing on 1" scale watercolor paintings for the past eight years. She has exhibited in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Michigan, has work in private collections in the U.S., England and Germany and is a member of the New Hampshire Plein Air painters, Concord Art Association and the Manchester Artists Association. She teaches watercolor and drawing to community education students in Lexington and Acton, Massachusetts, residents of Fox Hill Village in Westwood, Massachusetts and private students. Her work is traditional, realistic and peaceful, focusing on color, light, shadows and reflections in landscapes and waterscapes as well as architecture. She hopes to cause the viewer to notice the beauty of the natural things that surround us every day, or, in other words, to see more intently the world around us.The artist received her education at the De Cordova Museum School, Lincoln, MA-studying watercolor painting with Marjorie Glick and Ival Stratford Kovner; Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI-MA in Art Education and BA in Studio Art and Arts & Crafts and Creighton University, Omaha NE, Television as Abstract Art, six-week seminar. Besides Marjorie Glick and Ival Stratford Kovner, Joyce has studied with Marilyn Swift, Paul George and Nancy Sargent Howell. House portrait commissions are accepted in watercolor or drawing. Teaching

Joyce teaches watercolor classes for beginning and intermediate levels through both Minuteman Regional High School, Community Education Department, Lexington MA and Acton Boxborough Regional School District, Community Education Department, Administration Building, Acton MA. Commissions

Joyce accepts house portrait commissions from photographs in watercolor or drawing media. Please contact the artist to discuss your requirements.
